Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- ¾ cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 6–8 tablespoons cold water
- 4 medium apples, peeled and diced
- ½ cup sugar (for filling)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar. Add chilled butter and mix until crumbly. Gradually add cold water until dough forms. Divide into two discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, combine diced apples with sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and flour; toss well.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick and cut circles for muffin tins.
- Place dough circles in muffin cups, fill with apple mixture, cover with smaller dough circles, seal edges, and brush tops with beaten egg.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
