  • ⅓ cup brown sugar

  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch slurry
  • 1 package premade pie dough (contains 2 crusts)
  • All-purpose flour (for dusting)
  • 1 beaten egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp milk, cream, or water (for egg wash)
  • Additional coarse brown sugar (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix diced apples with brown sugar, spices, salt, butter, and vanilla until evenly coated. Stir in cornstarch slurry.
  3. Roll out the pie dough on a floured surface until about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out circles using a round cutter (3-4 inches in diameter).
  4. Place each circle on the baking sheet and spoon filling onto one side; fold over to form half-moons and crimp edges with a fork.
  5. Brush tops with an egg wash mixture and sprinkle with coarse brown sugar.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown; let cool slightly before serving.
