  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 (5 ounce) cans albacore tuna in water, drained and flaked
  • 1 cup frozen green peas, thawed
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook egg noodles in boiling salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In the same pot, melt butter over medium heat, add onion, and cook until softened (about 5 minutes).
  4. Stir in flour to create a roux and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth; simmer until thickened (3-5 minutes).
  6. Mix in cream of mushroom soup, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  7. Remove from heat; fold in cooked noodles, tuna, and peas.
  8. Pour mixture into baking dish; spread evenly.
  9. Combine panko breadcrumbs with melted butter; sprinkle over casserole.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  11. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
