Ingredients List

For the Salad:

  • 2 ripe mangoes, diced
  • 2 ripe avocados, diced
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup of cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ¼ cup of fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 small jalapeño (optional), thinly sliced for a bit of heat
  • ¼ cup of crumbled feta cheese or cotija cheese (optional)

For the Zesty Lime Dressing:

  • 3 tablespoons of fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon of lime zest
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of honey (optional, for a touch of sweetness)
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients

  • Dice the mango and avocado into bite-sized pieces. The avocado should be firm yet ripe to hold its shape in the salad. Slice the red onion thinly to add sharpness without overwhelming the other flavors. Halve the cherry tomatoes and finely chop the cilantro.

Step 2: Make the Lime Dressing

  • In a small bowl or blender, combine the fresh lime juice, lime zest, olive oil, minced garlic, honey (if using), salt, and pepper. Whisk or blend until the dressing is smooth and well emulsified. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Step 3: Toss the Salad

  • In a large bowl, gently combine the diced mango, avocado, cherry tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro. Drizzle the lime dressing over the salad and toss gently to coat all the ingredients. Be careful not to mash the avocado.

Step 4: Serve and Garnish

  • Serve the salad immediately. If desired, top with crumbled feta or cotija cheese and garnish with additional lime zest or jalapeño slices for a bit of heat. For added flavor, you can also serve the salad with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

Notes on Mango Varieties

Different varieties of mango can offer slightly different flavors. Ataulfo mangoes, also known as honey or champagne mangoes, are smaller and sweeter, while Tommy Atkins mangoes are larger and more fibrous but still juicy. Feel free to experiment with different mango varieties to find the one that suits your taste and texture preferences.
