  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • Fresh basil, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook gnocchi in salted boiling water until they float; drain.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter and whisk in flour to make a roux. Gradually add milk and cream, stirring until thickened.
  3. Remove from heat and mix in ricotta, mozzarella, and half of the parmesan until smooth. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
  4. Fold cooked gnocchi and marinara into the cheese sauce.
  5. Transfer to a greased baking dish, top with remaining parmesan, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden.
  6. Let cool slightly before garnishing with fresh basil.
