Description

This creamy and indulgent banana pudding combines layers of fresh bananas, Nilla wafers, and a rich, homemade pudding mixture for the ultimate dessert experience. Perfect for gatherings or anytime you crave a classic Southern treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2½ cups heavy whipping cream
  • ¾ cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 5 oz instant banana pudding mix (dry powder)
  • 1 cup milk (2% or whole)
  • 11 oz Nilla Wafers
  • 8 medium bananas (sliced, barely ripe)

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray; set aside.
  2. In a stand mixer, combine heavy whipping cream, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla extract. Whip on high speed until stiff peaks form (about 5–7 minutes). Transfer to a separate bowl and refrigerate.
  3. In the same mixer bowl, whip the softened cream cheese until fluffy (about 30 seconds). Add the sweetened condensed milk and beat until smooth.
  4. Mix in the banana pudding powder and slowly stream in the milk. Beat until fully combined and smooth.
  5. Gently fold 2/3 of the whipped cream into the pudding mixture until no streaks remain.
  6. In the prepared dish, layer Nilla wafers at the bottom. Top with a layer of banana slices and half of the pudding mixture. Repeat the layers, finishing with whipped cream on top.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
  8. Before serving, crush any remaining Nilla wafers and sprinkle on top for garnish.

Notes

  • Chilling Time: The dessert must chill for at least 8 hours to allow the wafers to soften and the layers to set.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Substitutions: Use Cool Whip instead of whipped cream, or shortbread cookies instead of Nilla wafers.
