Description
This Stick of Butter Rice is a rich, buttery, and flavorful baked rice dish made with just four ingredients—long-grain white rice, condensed French onion soup, beef broth, and butter. It’s the perfect easy side dish for any meal!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice (not instant)
- 1 (10 oz) can condensed French onion soup
- 1 (10 oz) can condensed beef broth
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, sliced thinly
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- In the prepared baking dish, combine the rice, French onion soup, and beef broth. Stir to mix evenly.
- Slice the butter into thin pieces and place them evenly on top of the rice mixture.
- Cover tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and continue baking for another 30 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender.
- Let the rice rest for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Do not use instant rice—it will become too mushy.
- If using brown rice, increase baking time by 15-20 minutes and add ½ cup extra broth.
- For extra cheesiness, sprinkle shredded cheddar or parmesan on top before the last 10 minutes of baking.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
- Reheat in the microwave with a splash of broth to keep it moist.
