Description

This Stick of Butter Rice is a rich, buttery, and flavorful baked rice dish made with just four ingredients—long-grain white rice, condensed French onion soup, beef broth, and butter. It’s the perfect easy side dish for any meal!


Ingredients

  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice (not instant)
  • 1 (10 oz) can condensed French onion soup
  • 1 (10 oz) can condensed beef broth
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, sliced thinly

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In the prepared baking dish, combine the rice, French onion soup, and beef broth. Stir to mix evenly.
  3. Slice the butter into thin pieces and place them evenly on top of the rice mixture.
  4. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  5. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 30 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender.
  6. Let the rice rest for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Do not use instant rice—it will become too mushy.
  • If using brown rice, increase baking time by 15-20 minutes and add ½ cup extra broth.
  • For extra cheesiness, sprinkle shredded cheddar or parmesan on top before the last 10 minutes of baking.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • Reheat in the microwave with a splash of broth to keep it moist.
