For the Buffalo Shrimp:
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup buttermilk
- 1 cup hot sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tbsp honey (optional)
- Vegetable oil for frying
For the Cool Ranch Dipping Sauce:
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ½ cup sour cream
- ¼ cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh chives, chopped
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Shrimp
- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels.
- In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
- In a separate bowl, whisk eggs with buttermilk.
Step 2: Coat the Shrimp
- Dredge shrimp in the flour mixture, coating evenly.
- Dip into the egg and buttermilk mixture.
- Coat again in the flour mixture for a double layer.
Step 3: Fry the Shrimp
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F.
- Fry shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Remove and place on a wire rack.
Step 4: Make the Buffalo Sauce
- In a saucepan, melt butter over low heat.
- Add hot sauce and whisk until smooth.
- Stir in honey for a hint of sweetness.
Step 5: Toss the Shrimp
- Place fried shrimp in a bowl.
- Pour Buffalo sauce over and toss to coat evenly.
Step 6: Make the Ranch Dipping Sauce
- In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk.
- Add garlic powder, onion powder, dill, chives, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
- Mix well and chill for 15 minutes before serving.
Step 7: Serve & Enjoy
- Arrange Buffalo shrimp on a plate.
- Serve with a side of ranch dressing.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

- For a healthier version, use an air fryer at 400°F for 8-10 minutes.
- Adjust spice levels by increasing or reducing cayenne and hot sauce.
