Description

These Shrimp and Steak Tacos bring together smoky grilled steak, juicy shrimp, and crispy, cheesy tortillas topped with a smooth avocado salsa. The perfect surf & turf taco recipe for Taco Tuesday, family dinners, or weekend cookouts.

For the Steak:

  • 12 whole skirt steaks
  • 2.5 tbsp Chipotle Garlic Rub
  • Canola oil (as needed)

For the Shrimp:

  • 1 lb whole shrimp, peeled & de-tailed
  • 2 tbsp Jalapeño Lime Pilsner Rub
  • Canola oil (as needed)

For the Crispy Tacos:

  • Corn or flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded Jack cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped red onion
  • 2 tbsp chopped cilantro

For the Avocado Salsa:

  • 1 whole avocado
  • 1 whole serrano pepper
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tbsp white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro
  • 2 tbsp white onion

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Proteins

  1. Coat steak with canola oil and rub with Chipotle Garlic Rub.
  2. Toss shrimp with oil and Jalapeño Lime Pilsner Rub.
  3. Let both marinate while preheating the grill.

Step 2: Grill the Steak & Shrimp

  1. Heat grill to 400°F.
  2. Cook steak for 4 minutes per side, or until medium-rare (120°F internal temp).
  3. Let steak rest before slicing against the grain.
  4. Cook shrimp in a cast iron skillet for 2-3 minutes per side until opaque.

Step 3: Assemble the Tacos

  1. Warm tortillas and lay them flat.
  2. Add shredded cheese, steak, and shrimp.
  3. Fold the tortillas over gently.

Step 4: Crisp the Tacos

  1. Heat a cast iron skillet over medium heat.
  2. Cook tacos for 1.5-2 minutes per side until crispy.

Step 5: Make the Avocado Salsa

  1. Blend all avocado salsa ingredients until smooth.

Step 6: Garnish & Serve

  1. Drizzle tacos with avocado salsa.
  2. Sprinkle with chopped cilantro and red onion.
  3. Serve with lime wedges for extra freshness.
