Description

A classic Shrimp Alfredo recipe featuring tender shrimp, a creamy Parmesan sauce, and perfectly cooked fettuccine. This restaurant-quality dish is easy to make at home and perfect for a comforting, indulgent meal.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Pasta:

  • 10 ounces fettuccine pasta
  • Salt (for boiling water)

For the Alfredo Sauce:

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¾ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Shrimp:

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Pasta

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil.
  2. Add fettuccine and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  3. Reserve ½ cup pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

Step 2: Cook the Shrimp

  1. Pat shrimp dry and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon butter in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook for 3-4 minutes, flipping halfway, until pink and opaque.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  5. Remove shrimp from the pan and set aside.

Step 3: Make the Alfredo Sauce

  1. In the same pan, melt 4 tablespoons butter over medium-low heat.
  2. Pour in heavy cream and simmer for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally. (Do not boil.)
  3. Gradually whisk in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water to loosen it.

Step 4: Combine Everything

  1. Add the cooked fettuccine to the Alfredo sauce, tossing gently to coat.
  2. Return the shrimp to the pan and mix well.
  3. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley.

Step 5: Serve & Enjoy

  • Serve immediately with extra Parmesan cheese and fresh cracked black pepper.
  • Pair with garlic bread or a crisp salad for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Use fresh Parmesan cheese—pre-grated varieties don’t melt as well.
  • Cook shrimp just until pink to prevent rubbery texture.
  • For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half or Greek yogurt for heavy cream.
  • Leftovers? Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge.
