  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 cloves garlic

  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with unsalted butter.
  3. Thinly slice the russet potatoes using a mandoline or sharp knife.
  4. In a medium saucepan, combine heavy cream, whole milk, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme over medium heat. Stir until simmering.
  5. Layer half of the potato slices in the baking dish, pour half the cream mixture over them, and sprinkle with half the cheeses. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
