Description
This simple yet delicious Russian Buttercream is made with just 4 ingredients. Its creamy texture and rich flavor make it perfect for frosting cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and more.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature (226g)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste (4ml)
- ¼ tsp salt (1g)
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk (396g)
- Powdered sugar (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whip the room-temperature unsalted butter on medium-high speed for 5–7 minutes until it becomes light and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and salt, mixing on low speed until incorporated.
- Gradually pour in the sweetened condensed milk in 4 additions, mixing on medium speed after each addition until smooth.
- Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl to ensure even mixing.
- If the frosting is too soft, add powdered sugar, ½ cup at a time, until the desired consistency is achieved.
- Use immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or cookies.
Notes
- Yields approximately 3 cups of frosting, enough to frost 24 cupcakes or a 6-inch layer cake.
- If the frosting is too soft, refrigerate for 10–15 minutes before use.
- To add color, use gel food coloring for vibrant shades without altering the consistency.
