  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 can (15 ounces) pizza sauce
  • 1 ½ cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Dried oregano and basil for seasoning

Instructions

  1. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente; drain.
  2. In a large skillet, brown ground sausage over medium heat; season with salt and pepper.
  3. Sauté onion, bell pepper, and garlic in the same skillet until softened.
  4. Stir cooked sausage back into the skillet; add pizza sauce, oregano, and basil. Simmer briefly.
  5. In an oven-safe skillet or casserole dish, layer half of the sausage mixture, half of the noodles, ricotta cheese, and mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers.
  6. Top with Parmesan cheese and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 40 minutes (25 covered with foil, then uncovered for last 15 minutes).
  7. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
