Description

Soft, gooey cinnamon rolls made with pizza dough—perfect for a quick breakfast or dessert! This shortcut recipe delivers all the flavor of classic cinnamon rolls without the long prep time.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cinnamon Rolls:

  • 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 pound homemade or store-bought pizza dough

For the Glaze:

  • 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 Tablespoons hot water (adjust as needed for consistency)

Instructions

Making the Cinnamon Rolls:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease an 8×11-inch baking dish with butter.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and sugar together.
  3. Lightly flour a clean surface, then roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle, about 16×10 inches.
  4. Brush melted butter evenly over the surface of the dough.
  5. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly across the dough.
  6. Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log.
  7. Use a sharp knife to cut into 12 equal rolls, about 1½ inches thick.
  8. Arrange the rolls in the prepared baking dish, leaving space between each.
  9. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown.

Making the Glaze:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
  2. Gradually whisk in hot water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the glaze reaches the desired consistency.
  3. Drizzle over warm cinnamon rolls and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Let pizza dough come to room temperature before rolling to make it easier to handle.
  • For softer rolls, slightly underbake them rather than overbaking.
  • Swap brown sugar for white sugar for a deeper caramelized flavor.
  • Add nuts, raisins, or chocolate chips for extra texture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
