Description

Pepper steak is a tantalizing dish that combines tender strips of beef with colorful bell peppers and onions, all enveloped in a savory sauce. This easy-to-make recipe is perfect for busy weeknights or special gatherings, delivering a comforting and flavorful meal in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 large green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 large red bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Season the flank steak with salt and black pepper in a mixing bowl.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef in a single layer and cook until browned (about 2-3 minutes). Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil. Sauté onion and bell peppers until tender (approximately 5 minutes). Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  4. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch, soy sauce, beef broth, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and sesame oil until smooth.
  5. Return the beef to the skillet, pour the sauce over everything, stir to combine, and cook for another 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
