Description

This peach and basil lemonade is an easy-to-make, hydrating beverage packed with natural fruit flavors and herbal notes. Customize it to your taste with optional garnishes or substitutes like mint or honey.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe peaches, roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional, adjust based on the sweetness of the peaches)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil leaves (approximately 3 large leaves or 56 small ones)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups chilled water, divided
  • Ice cubes (optional, as needed for serving)

Optional Garnishes:

  • Lemon slices
  • Peach slices
  • Chopped basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Blend Ingredients:
In a blender, combine the chopped peaches, fresh lemon juice, sugar (if using), basil leaves, salt, and 2 cups of chilled water. Blend until smooth.
  2. Strain the Mixture:
Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer or sieve into a bowl or pitcher to remove the pulp. Press the pulp with a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible.
  3. Mix and Adjust:
Add the remaining 1 cup of chilled water to the strained liquid. Stir well and taste. Adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more sugar or lemon juice if needed.
  4. Serve:
Fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour the lemonade into the glasses. Garnish with lemon slices, peach slices, or additional chopped basil leaves for a beautiful presentation.
  5. Enjoy:
Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing blend of flavors.

Notes

  • Herb Substitutions: If basil isn’t available or preferred, replace it with fresh mint or rosemary for a unique twist.
  • Fruit Variations: Try swapping peaches with other fruits like strawberries, mangoes, or watermelon for different flavor profiles.
  • Sweetener Alternatives: Replace sugar with honey, agave syrup, or your favorite sugar substitute for a healthier option.
  • Make It Sparkling: Replace 1 cup of water with soda water for a fizzy version of the drink.
