- 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- 2 cups shredded cheese (Cheddar or Gruyère)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Fresh chives for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan.
- Layer sliced potatoes in the bottom of the pan.
- In a bowl, mix heavy cream, milk, salt, pepper, garlic, and thyme.
- Pour some cream mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle with cheese. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up.
- Drizzle melted butter over the top layer of cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes; remove foil and bake for another 30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan; garnish with chives.
