  • 1½ cups (360 ml) water
  • ⅓ cup (80 ml) vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 6 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 3 tbsp (45 g) brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) lemon juice
  • ¾ cup (95 g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (100 g) brown sugar (for topping)
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup (115 g) cold butter, cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Stir until smooth and pour into the prepared pan.
  3. Toss sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice, then spread evenly over the batter.
  4. In another bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, salt; add cubed butter and blend until crumbly. Sprinkle topping over apples.
  5. Bake for 35 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool before slicing.
