Description
Hamburger and Potato Bake is a comforting, creamy, and cheesy casserole made with layers of seasoned ground beef, thinly sliced potatoes, and a rich sauce.

- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 (10.5 oz) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- ¾ cup milk
- ½ cup chopped onion
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 3 cups peeled and thinly sliced potatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the ground beef for 5-7 minutes until crumbly. Drain excess grease.
- In a mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, chopped onion, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth.
- In a greased 2-quart baking dish, layer:
- ⅓ of the sliced potatoes
- ⅓ of the soup mixture
- ⅓ of the cooked ground beef
- Repeat layers twice more, finishing with the remaining soup mixture on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 to 1½ hours until potatoes are tender.
- Remove foil, sprinkle with cheddar cheese, and bake uncovered for another 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Thinly slice potatoes (⅛ to ¼ inch thick) for even cooking.
- Ground turkey or sausage can be used instead of beef.
- For extra creaminess, stir in ½ cup sour cream to the soup mixture.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
