Description

Soft, gooey, and incredibly indulgent, these Gooey Cream Cheese Chess Bars are the perfect dessert for potlucks, family gatherings, or sweet cravings!

Ingredients

Scale

Crust Layer:

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, melted
  • 1 egg

Cream Cheese Layer:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups (1 lb) powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 300°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine yellow cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg. Mix until a soft dough forms. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  • In a separate bowl, combine softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and 2 eggs. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth.
  • Pour the cream cheese mixture over the crust, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are set (the center may still jiggle slightly).
  • Let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For a cleaner cut, chill the bars in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes before slicing.
  • Experiment with different cake mix flavors for unique variations.
