Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup mustard (Yellow, Dijon, or German)
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/21 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (adjust for spice level)

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, combine mustard, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, celery seed, black pepper, and hot sauce. Stir well.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally.
  • Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the butter until melted and smooth.
  • Allow the sauce to cool slightly before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness, salt, or heat to your preference during cooking.
