Ingredients
Scale
- Fish Marinade:
- 600g of firm white fish fillets
- Zest and juice of one lime
- 1 tbsp of chipotle powder or a mix of smoked paprika and cumin
- 1 tbsp of finely chopped canned jalapeños
- 1/4 cup of finely chopped cilantro
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 3 tbsp of olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Marinating the Fish
- Prepare the Marinade: Combine all marinade ingredients in a large bowl. Coat the fish fillets thoroughly with the marinade and let them sit in the refrigerator for no more than an hour to absorb the flavors.
- Cooking the Fish: Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the fish fillets in the skillet. Cook each side for about 2 minutes or until golden and flaky.
- Assembling the Tacos: Warm the tortillas on the grill or in a dry skillet. Place a generous amount of fish on each tortilla, followed by your chosen toppings like cabbage slaw, a dollop of sour cream, and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro.
Notes
- Storing Leftovers: Store any leftover fish in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days.
- Reheating: Reheat gently in a skillet to preserve the best texture. Microwaving is not recommended as it can dry out the fish.
- Making Ahead: You can prepare the slaw and sauces ahead of time, keeping them refrigerated until needed.
