Ingredients List

Here’s what you’ll need to make air fryer filet mignon:

  • 2 filet mignon steaks (68 ounces each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for topping)

Instructions

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Steaks: Pat the filet mignon steaks dry with paper towels. Rub each steak with olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper. If using, add minced garlic, rosemary, and thyme.
  3. Place in Air Fryer: Place the seasoned steaks in the preheated air fryer basket, making sure they do not touch.
  4. Cook the Steaks: Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, for medium-rare. Adjust the cooking time based on your desired level of doneness (see temperature guide below).
  5. Check Doneness: Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the steaks:
    • Rare: 125°F (52°C)
    • Medium-Rare: 130°F (54°C)
    • Medium: 140°F (60°C)
    • Medium-Well: 150°F (66°C)
    • Well Done: 160°F (71°C)
  6. Rest the Steaks: Remove the steaks from the air fryer and let them rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
  7. Serve: Top each steak with a pat of butter and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Butter Alternatives: Substitute butter with ghee or a plant-based butter if you prefer a dairy-free option.
  • Herb Alternatives: Use dried herbs if fresh herbs are not available, but use half the amount as dried herbs are more concentrated.
  • Oil Alternatives: Olive oil can be replaced with avocado oil or any high smoke point oil for a slightly different flavor.
