Description

Crispy Chilli Chicken is a tantalizing dish that perfectly marries crunchy fried chicken with a spicy garlic sauce, making it an ideal choice for appetizers or quick weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup cold water
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil (for sauce)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2–3 tablespoons red chili sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, pepper, and paprika. In another bowl, whisk the egg with cold water.
  2. Dip chicken pieces into the egg mix then coat with the flour mixture.
  3. Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry chicken in batches until golden brown (about 4-5 minutes). Drain on paper towels.
  4. In another pan, heat 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil, sauté garlic for 30 seconds, then add chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sugar. Cook until slightly thickened.
  5. Toss fried chicken in the sauce until well coated. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
