  • Author: Emily

Description

Make the perfect Chicken Teriyaki Bowl at home! Tender chicken, savory teriyaki sauce, and fresh veggies over rice. Ideal for a quick, healthy meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients List

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup teriyaki sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cups cooked white or brown rice
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup julienned carrots
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Marinate the chicken: In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken pieces with half of the teriyaki sauce. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  • Cook the rice: While the chicken marinates, cook the rice according to package instructions. Set aside.
  • Cook the chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
  • Cook the vegetables: Add the broccoli, carrots, and bell pepper to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender-crisp, about 4-5 minutes.
  • Add the sauce: Pour the remaining teriyaki sauce over the chicken and vegetables. Stir to coat everything evenly and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Assemble the bowls: Divide the cooked rice into bowls. Top with the chicken and vegetables. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.
  • Serve: Serve immediately, with extra teriyaki sauce on the side if desired.

Notes

  • Use High-Quality Ingredients: The flavor of your teriyaki bowl greatly depends on the quality of the ingredients. Opt for fresh vegetables, high-quality soy sauce, and organic chicken if possible.
  • Marinate for Maximum Flavor: For the best results, marinate the chicken in teriyaki sauce for at least 30 minutes, or even overnight. This allows the chicken to absorb the flavors, making each bite more delicious.
  • Cook in Batches: When cooking the chicken, avoid overcrowding the pan. Cooking in batches ensures the chicken browns evenly and develops a nice caramelized exterior.
  • Customize Your Bowl: Feel free to add or substitute vegetables based on your preference. Bok choy, snap peas, or mushrooms can be great additions. You can also substitute the chicken with tofu, shrimp, or beef for variety.
