Description

This Better Than Anything Cake is a rich and indulgent dessert made with a moist chocolate cake, caramel, sweetened condensed milk, and a fluffy Cool Whip topping. Finished with crunchy toffee bits, it’s the perfect treat for parties, holidays, or any special occasion!

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 (16.5-ounce) box devil’s food cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 12 ounces caramel ice cream topping
  • 8 ounces Cool Whip (or homemade whipped cream)
  • ¾ cup milk chocolate Heath toffee bits

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cake:
    • Preheat your oven to the temperature indicated on the box of devil’s food cake mix.
    • Prepare the cake batter according to the package instructions.
    • Pour the batter into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Poke the Cake:
    • While the cake is still warm, use a butter knife or fork to poke holes evenly across the surface.
  3. Add Toppings:
    • Drizzle the caramel topping over the cake, making sure it seeps into the holes.
    • Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the top, spreading evenly. Allow the cake to cool completely to room temperature.
  4. Top with Cool Whip:
    • Once the cake has cooled, spread an even layer of Cool Whip over the surface using a spatula.
  5. Sprinkle with Toffee Bits:
    • Sprinkle the milk chocolate Heath toffee bits evenly over the Cool Whip layer.
  6. Chill and Serve:
    • Refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour before serving. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra crunch, toast the toffee bits lightly before adding them to the cake.
  • You can make this cake a day ahead. Add the Cool Whip and toffee bits just before serving for the freshest presentation.
  • For a nut-free version, substitute the toffee bits with crushed chocolate sandwich cookies or mini chocolate chips.
