Description

Ingredients

  • 125g unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 34 large Granny Smith apples (diced)
  • 1/4 cup plain flour
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180C (350F).
  2. Grease and line a 20cm square pan with parchment paper.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until smooth.
  4. Stir in the egg until fully combined.
  5. Press two-thirds of the mixture into the base of the prepared pan and bake for 15 minutes until slightly golden.
  6. While cooling, mix diced apples with flour, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg; pour over the baked base.
  7. Crumble remaining mixture on top and bake for another 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
