- 125g unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 cups plain flour
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 egg
- 3–4 large Granny Smith apples (diced)
- 1/4 cup plain flour
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180C (350F).
- Grease and line a 20cm square pan with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until smooth.
- Stir in the egg until fully combined.
- Press two-thirds of the mixture into the base of the prepared pan and bake for 15 minutes until slightly golden.
- While cooling, mix diced apples with flour, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg; pour over the baked base.
- Crumble remaining mixture on top and bake for another 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
