Steak & Marinade:

  • 2 New York Strip Steaks (68 oz each)
  • 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1 tbsp melted butter (optional)

Homemade Steak Rub:

  • ½ tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp brown sugar (or sugar substitute)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • Salt & black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Prep the Steak: Pat dry and drizzle with soy sauce and liquid smoke.
  • Season: Mix spice rub and coat both sides of steak. Let it sit for 10-30 minutes (optional).
  • Preheat Air Fryer: Set to 370°F (190°C).
  • Cook: Place steak strips in a single layer. Air fry for 5-8 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Check Doneness: Use a meat thermometer (125°F for rare, 135°F for medium-rare, 145°F for medium, 155°F for medium-well, 160°F for well-done).
  • Glaze & Rest: Brush with melted butter or honey glaze. Rest for 3-5 minutes before slicing.
